DescriptionSummary of Role:
A Sr Project Manager will typically manage a few large and complex projects in parallel that involve applications and/or infrastructure and cross multiple organizations. Adherence to our standard project management methodology is required, but also exercising experience and judgement on how to best fit artifacts to each project situation. Additionally, a successful project manager will facilitate the definition of key outcomes and drive work accordingly. This role will require the ability to work as a scrum master as well. The responsibilities are to serve the team in turning requirements into the working software, track progress and help the team achieve their commitments and goals. The PM will act as the Scrum Master to facilitate scrum events, supporting the team in following the Scrum framework.
Responsibilities:
- Apply Project Management methodology while exercising experience and judgement on how to best fit required artifacts to each project situation.
- Lead process improvement workshops as needed prior to implementing a technology solution.
- Develop effective and realistic plans to start a project, including:
- the Charter that effectively frames the initiative in terms of objectives, scope, approach, risks, roles and responsibilities, and critical success factors.
- the detailed project plan for all phases that clearly describes tasks, owners, dependencies, start and end dates, etc. and is validated with key stakeholders. Also accelerate value delivery via parallel tracks, eliminating slack, business prioritization, etc.
- the cost estimate and monthly spend plan.
- Feasibility studies, vendor selections and SOWs as applicable for approval by appropriate stakeholders.
- Drive execution by rigorously:
- leading effective project status meetings.
- tracking progress against the baseline schedule.
- tracking issues and risks, and driving resolution.
- tracking actual and forecast costs to plan.
- controlling changes to scope.
- reporting status accurately via our PPM tool for senior leadership review.
- Demonstrate effective critical thinking skills in crafting project plans and managing challenges.
- Communicate early and effectively with the appropriate level of detail to project participants and senior executives. A bias for “no surprises” is critical.
- Build a trusted adviser relationship with key project stakeholders and enthusiasm across project participants.
- Hold 3rd party partners accountable to the SOW.
- Assure product quality throughout project lifecycle.
- Facilitates and supports all scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective etc.
- Facilitates cross team collaboration, and Scrum of Scrum level event
- Track and monitor progress daily and help the team achieve their commitments and when problems are identified work with team to develop corrective actions.
- Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving.
- Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
- Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to refining (aka grooming) and managing the product backlog and road mapping
- Collaborate with the team in scheduling work, including defect remediation and refactoring, guarding against the accumulation of technical debt.
- Manage and report the status of scope, schedule, resourcing, and financials. Including tracking budget and product metric
- Contribute ideas to improve project management and Agile practices.
- Continue professional development in order to keep current on emerging technologies, methods and best practices.
Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree. Masters degree a plus.
- Discipline expertise:
- 5+ years of project team experience as a Developer, Bus. Analyst, and/or Tester.
- 7+ years of technology project management experience in a complex environment.
- A mix of application development, infrastructure and compliance projects.
- Management of large programs is a plus.
- Lean Six Sigma certification a plus.
Skills:
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification to demonstrate a foundational knowledge of project management principles and methods.
- Scrum Certifications PMI-ACP
- SDLC methodologies including Waterfall and Agile.
- PPM/Agile tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Service Now, MS Project)
- Able to relate examples of:

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations to executive sponsors.

- Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques
- Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
- In-depth Understanding of Agile and product metrics
- Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, different organizations, different cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc)
- Proficient in Visio, MS Excel, PowerPoint and other Office applications to build process flows
and presentations
