Responsibilities
As a Clinical Psychologist in the Behavioral Health department at Camp Lejeune, the successful candidate will be responsible for a range of core and additional duties. The work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday, with 8.5 hours between 7:00am and 5:00pm, including a 30-minute lunch break. This role does not require weekend work, holidays, or being on-call.
Core Duties
The core duties of the Clinical Psychologist include but are not limited to:
- Practicing within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges.
- Conducting psychological evaluations using information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.
- Establishing psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
- Providing psychological treatment for individuals and groups, helping medical and surgical patients cope with illnesses or injuries.
- Assisting in the rehabilitation of patients.
Additional Duties
In addition to the core duties, the Clinical Psychologist will also be responsible for:
- Providing concise documentation of care and recommendations in the patient’s medical record within 24 hours of the patient being seen.
- Not exceeding approximately 16 sessions per day, including individual and group appointments.
- Participating in group medical appointments, including Shared Medical Appointments (SMA) and Drop-in Group Medical Appointments (DIGMA) as requested by the primary care manager (PCM).
- Providing technical direction and clinical insight into relevant projects being conducted at the site of service.
Qualifications
To be considered for the role of Clinical Psychologist at Camp Lejeune, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Degree/Education: Graduate from an American Psychology Association accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology. Successful completion from an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
- Experience: A one-year fellowship or residency in health psychology or behavioral medicine, or possess one year of experience in the last four years in the evaluation and treatment of patients with pain, psychological factors affecting their physical condition, or difficulty coping with medical problems.
- Licensure: Possess and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted license or certification to practice as a Psychologist.
- Life Support Certification: Current AHA or ARC BLS Certifications.
- Security: Must possess the ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
