About the Position
Supporting Organizational Development and Learning
The position supports the efforts of the Organizational Development and Learning team within the HR and Payroll department. The trainer is responsible for providing training and organizational development facilitation for faculty and staff.
Responsibilities
The trainer has various responsibilities in supporting organizational development and learning. These responsibilities include:
Training for Faculty/Staff
The trainer provides training for faculty and staff, including new hire orientations, supervisor and employee development, supervisor boot camp, emerging leaders’ supervisor series, and other learning opportunities for administrative and professional staff.
Designing and Delivering E-Learning Products
Using modern learning technologies, the trainer designs and delivers e-learning products to enhance the learning experience for faculty and staff.
Developing and Supporting Communities of Practice
The trainer develops and supports Communities of Practice for Mason Faculty and Staff, providing a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing among employees.
Assisting Career-Pathing and Succession Planning Initiatives
The trainer serves as the HR point person/sponsor/thought partner to assist groups in support of career-pathing and succession planning initiatives, ensuring that employees have opportunities for growth and advancement within the organization.
Building Relationships and Gathering Data
The trainer networks and builds relationships with various stakeholders within the university, including Mason administrative professionals, HR Liaisons, academic advisors, and other career groups. They gather data through focus groups, surveys, and other tools to inform the design and delivery of training and organizational development programs.
Identifying Organizational Development Needs
Collaborating with the Organizational Development and Learning team, the trainer helps identify organizational development needs within the university. This includes consulting with units that have requested OD services to identify the source of the request and designing appropriate tools and interventions to address those needs.
Developing Curricula, Materials, and Courses
The trainer works with the Organizational Development and Learning team to develop curricula, materials, and courses for faculty and staff learning opportunities. This involves consulting with units to understand their specific learning needs and designing relevant content to meet those needs.
Other Duties
The trainer may also have other duties assigned that support the overall mission of the office and contribute to the development and implementation of HR and organizational development initiatives.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for this position, the following qualifications are required:
Bachelor’s Degree
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Experience in Delivering Training
Candidates must have some experience in delivering training, including facilitation and classroom management.
Comfort with Learning Technologies
Candidates must be comfortable with learning technologies and software used to deliver training.
Verbal and Written Communication Skills
Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively deliver training and develop instructional materials.
Organizational Skills and Attention to Detail
Candidates must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively manage training programs and materials.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Higher Education or Human Resources
Candidates with experience working in higher education or human resources are preferred.
Experience in Designing, Delivering, and Evaluating Training Programs
Candidates with experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs, including new hire orientations, are preferred.
Knowledge of Adult Learning Theory
Candidates with knowledge of adult learning theory and experience in facilitating training content for adults are preferred.
Experience with E-Learning Design Software
Candidates with knowledge and experience working with e-learning design software, such as Articulate, to design asynchronous learning content are preferred.
Knowledge of Organization Development Practices
Candidates with knowledge of organization development practices are preferred.
Experience Using ADDIE Model
Candidates with experience using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model to deliver training to diverse audiences are preferred.
