Job Description

The term faculty (non-tenure track) position in Industrial Design at DePaul University, Jarvis College of Computing and Digital Media, School of Design in Chicago, IL is currently open for applications. The School of Design at DePaul University’s Jarvis College of Computing and Digital Media is located in the heart of Chicago. Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with relevant experience in bringing products to market and expertise in any other areas related to industrial design. Prospective candidates should be capable of teaching both theoretical and practical hands-on courses, in both lecture and studio-based formats. There are several credentials that candidates may possess to be considered eligible for this position:

  • A terminal degree (e.g. MFA, MDes, MID) in industrial design
  • A graduate degree in a related field (e.g. UI, UX, engineering) and an undergraduate degree in industrial design
  • An undergraduate degree in industrial design accompanied by a strong record of extensive professional experience

Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality teaching at the undergraduate level, possess an active record of professional creative practice, and provide evidence of working collaboratively. Preferred candidates will have a minimum of two years of teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level. They should also be able to contribute their expertise to shaping DePaul’s design curriculum and have experience in design research. Furthermore, candidates should display motivation to work with faculty and students on building curriculum and leading school-wide initiatives. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work and interests align with DePaul’s Vincentian mission, which focuses on promoting peaceful, just, and equitable solutions to social and environmental challenges.
