Job Description
Crown Equipment Corporation is seeking a Senior Interaction Designer – Truck & Emerging Tech (Onsite) in New Bremen, OH. As a Senior Interaction Designer, the individual will be responsible for leading the process of UX/UI product development for new and innovative equipment interface product experiences. They will work with minimal supervision to execute all phases of the product development process, including planning, research, conceptualization, and content creation. Collaboration with leaders within Design and other key departments such as Engineering, Service, Marketing, and Sales will be essential in this role. The Senior Interaction Designer will report to the User Experience (UX) Interaction Design Manager.
Job Responsibilities
Design Research, Analysis, and Documentation
The Senior Interaction Designer will work with peers in Engineering and Design Research to plan, facilitate, and document research learnings in order to understand customer needs and drive product development. They will prototype new digital user experiences and conduct user testing to gather input on the product experience. Drafting project plans that include clear research goals, schedules, periodic milestones, and defined deliverables will be part of their responsibilities. They will also document and present findings for cross-department and stakeholder consumption. Aligning with international Design & Engineering teams (Germany, New Zealand, & China) will also be necessary in this role.
Conceptual Design and Innovation
The Senior Interaction Designer will assist in leading the development of solutions that incorporate a high degree of product innovation, differentiating value, and competitive advantage. They will effectively communicate design concepts and themes to project stakeholders through research analysis, narrative description/wireframing, design mockups, and prototypes. This includes ensuring that the designs align with the company’s branding guidelines and customer preferences.
Project Management
Managing projects, tasks, and cross-department communication to ensure deliverables are met will be a key responsibility of the Senior Interaction Designer. They will collaborate with team members to prepare and present project work and work closely with the UX Interaction Design Manager and Product Development counterparts to ensure project objectives are clearly defined and understood. Strong organizational and prioritization skills will be necessary to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Miscellaneous
The Senior Interaction Designer will also assist Design leadership with any Interaction Design issues that need attention, engaging Visual Design and/or Design Research. They will stay current on advancements in the design field, design trends, or related fields and build relationships with stakeholders and development teams in support of worldwide products and services. Attending trade shows, professional events, and reading periodicals relative to the field will be expected. Additionally, supporting material submission for design competitions and legal patent issues will be part of their responsibilities. Participation in professional organizations is encouraged.

Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must have the following qualifications:
- Associate degree in the field of Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interactive Media Studies, Visual Design, Industrial Design or a related field
- 5 years of interaction design experience (salary will be commensurate with experience)
- Good skills in communication, planning, and product development
- Ability to plan projects and research activities while applying the most contemporary design methods to conceptualization, prototyping and implementation, supported by a well-developed knowledge of technology
- Work samples must exhibit strong skills in visual design, conceptual thinking, and creative problem solving. Candidates are required to include a portfolio link with their application
- Ability to frequently travel with overnight stays (6-20%) and possess a valid passport
- Reliable transportation to travel locally between company locations during scheduled workdays
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Bachelor degree in the field of Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interactive Media Studies, Visual Design, Industrial Design or a related field
- Successful experience in all phases of software product development
