Job Summary

The country modeling team focuses on policy impact analysis and investment prioritization in developing countries in Africa and Asia, utilizing economywide models and analytical tools. The final grade level will be determined by the candidate’s relevant work experience.
Essential Duties
The responsibilities of the Research Analyst I/II include but are not limited to:
- Conducting literature reviews and syntheses.
- Assisting in editing or co-authoring discussion papers, reports, and other publications.
- Analyzing various data sources and producing associated metadata or documentation files.
- Assisting in the development of research instruments and analytical tools.
- Organizing and participating in technical or dissemination workshops.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
For the Research Analyst I level, candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in economics, Agricultural Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, or a closely related field, along with two years of relevant experience. For the Research Analyst II level, a master’s degree in the aforementioned fields, along with three years of relevant post-master’s work experience, is preferred. Candidates should also have demonstrated experience in coordinating fieldwork activities and supporting research in a developing country setting, particularly in Africa and/or Asia. Strong analytical and writing skills, as well as the ability to conduct literature reviews and present research findings, are essential. Proficiency in statistical and programming languages such as Stata and/or GAMS is highly desirable, along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Fluency in written and spoken English is required, and the willingness to travel internationally is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications for the Research Analyst I/II position include previous exposure to and understanding of social accounting matrices (SAMs) for developing countries. Additionally, experience in simulation modeling, particularly economywide computable general equilibrium (CGE) modeling at the country or subnational scales, and proficiency in a second language of the U.N. system, are highly valued. Demonstrated aptitude in supporting statistical and econometric analysis using household or firm surveys is also preferred.
Physical Demand & Work Environment
The Research Analyst I/II will primarily work in an office setting. The job requires sitting in an upright position for extended periods of time, as well as lifting objects weighing between 0-10 pounds. The role includes activities such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, and extensive reading. Close visual acuity is necessary for these tasks, including viewing computer terminals.
