Job Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive academic advising for undergraduate students in Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Graphic Design majors: The advisor will provide guidance and support to students in these majors, ensuring they have the necessary information and resources to make informed decisions about their academic path.

  • Course selection and meeting academic and financial aid requirements: The advisor will assist students in selecting courses that align with their academic goals and ensure they are meeting all requirements for graduation and financial aid eligibility.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Terminal Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, and/or Graphic Design: Applicants must have a terminal degree in one or more of these disciplines, such as a B.Arch, BS Interior Architecture, Master of Architecture, Master of Interior Architecture/Design, BFA Graphic Design, or MFA Graphic Design.

  • Two or more years professional experience in design/creative field or advising capacity: Applicants must have at least two years of professional experience working in a design/creative field or in an advising capacity. Relevant experience within a college or university setting is also accepted.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design/Architecture, or Graphic Design: Applicants with a Master’s degree in one or more of these disciplines will be given preference.

  • Some teaching experience in higher education: Teaching experience in a higher education setting, particularly in the field of design, is preferred.

  • Knowledge of academic advising practices and student development theory: Applicants with knowledge of academic advising practices and student development theory are preferred.

  • Advising experience in a professional design curriculum: Experience advising students in a professional design curriculum is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of student information systems: Familiarity with student information systems such as DARS, BANNER, Navigate, Slate, or related software is preferred.
